Improbable is giving it a gigantic benefit of a doubt. The odds of chance being responsible for our existence are mathematically ludicrous. Research them for yourself. You may find that you can accept the odds, or a cleverly written article will downplay them to your satisfaction.
The theory of Boltzmann brains has been proposed as a much more mathematically rational explanation. In this paradigm, nothing actually exists and we are floating brains that pop into existence, complete with memories of a full human life. Unlikely you say? Actually, it's statistically 'infinitely more likely' than current Big Bang cosmology.
